Tuesday, February 9th, 2010: Lecture, 6:30pm-8:30pm, American Mountaineering Center (10th & Washington, Golden, CO): Topics (subject to change): History and evolution of ice climbing and ice climbing equipment, review of modern ice climbing equipment, Tom Rules of Ice Climbing, ice climbing technique, ice climbing grades.
Thursday, February 11th, 2010: Lecture, 6:30pm-8:30pm, American Mountaineering Center (10th & Washington, Golden, CO). Topics (subject to change): Technique (cont.), efficiency on ice, equipment, ice climbing protection, multi-pitch ice climbing, weekend field trip coordination.
Saturday February 13th, 2010: Field Day 1. All day. Exact times and location to be announced. Expect an early start and a long day. Focus is on technique & efficiency.
Sunday February 14th, 2010: Field Day 2: All Day. Lincoln Falls, Mt. Lincoln (near Alma, CO). Exact times to be announced. Expect an early start and a long day. Focus is on multi-pitch ice climbing, including descending multi-pitch routes.
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010: Lecture, 6:30pm-8:30pm, American Mountaineering Center (10th & Washington, Golden, CO). Topics (subject to change): review of Field Days 1 & 2, coordination for Field Days 3 & 4, ice protection discussion, alpine climbing, intro to mixed climbing, review of all topics, Q & A.
Friday February 19th, 2010: Afternoon/Evening: Travel to Ouray, CO for Field Days 3 and 4.
Saturday February 20th, 2010: Field Day 3. All day (7:30am-4:00pm). Ouray Ice Park, Ouray, CO.
Sunday February 21st, 2010: Field Day 4. 7:30am-1:00pm (or later as determined by the group). Ouray Ice Park, Ouray, CO. Return to Denver (or stay in Ouray and return on Monday February 22nd).
